The Size of Your Success is Measured by the Strength of Your Desire

I love this quote from Robert Kiyosaki. If you don’t know who he is, I seriously recommend reading his book ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’. For any budding entrepreneur this is essential reading.

Going back to the quote though, whenever you think back in your life about the things you really wanted to do and succeeded at, you’ll find it was where your desire was the strongest.

Perhaps one of the easiest examples of this, for the majority of us, is learning to drive. I don’t know about you, but as soon as I was legally able, I was desperate to learn to drive and excuse the pun, absolutely driven, until I succeeded.

I never really felt that same desire towards any career. I envied people who said that they always knew what they wanted to be when they grew up. I certainly didn’t.

There were a few careers I was vaguely interested in, Accounting & Law for example, but I didn’t have any overwhelming passion. I was interested in ‘business’ but without any real focus until I became interested in the property market.

Property was and still is something I absolutely love but I also felt, to quote the song “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”. Not surprising though, since I didn’t know, what exactly, I was looking for.

From the first time I had an Internet connection, back in the 90’s I was intrigued by the idea of having an online business. For years the idea hung around at the back of my mind but I didn’t have a product to sell nor did I really know where to start.

Then one day, completely by chance, I did find what I was looking for & I recognised it immediately. I found genuine people who could teach me how to build businesses online and an ethical product that I believed in and could sell, all in the same package.

Suddenly that feeling of being driven to succeed was back with me again and I could see a world of infinite possibility and freedom right on my laptop.

If you’re wondering what it was that made such an impact on me, it was a video series just like this one.
